After the release of the sequel to James Cameron's «Avatar», the fan community has significantly revived and relieved the question of the release of the game «Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora», which was announced at E3 2021.
Currently, the game is in development, Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney plan to release it no earlier than the end of 2023.
Although Ubisoft does not definitively outline the release date of the game, it confirms the information that it will happen no earlier than the next fiscal year, i.e. between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024.
Most fans of the Avatar universe are waiting with bated breath for the release of this open-world action-adventure game, where they will be allowed to become one of the Na`vi races.
- The game will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
Most likely, the game will not be available on PS4 and Xbox One, as Massive Entertainment is actively developing the new Snowdrop engine, which requires more powerful hardware that can fully reveal the beauty of the planet Pandora.
Currently, a teaser trailer is available, which at least gives us a rough idea of what to expect from the game. "Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be a first-person action-adventure game in which you will play as one of the Na`vi. However, you should not expect to meet the famous characters of the movie, as the action will take place in a completely different corner of the planet.
«In this new, standalone story, play as the Na`vi and embark on a journey across the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen part of Pandora. Explore a vibrant and reactive world populated by unique creatures and new characters, and fight back against the formidable RDA forces that threaten it», Ubisoft's official website says.
According to Ubisoft's Technical Art Director Sebastian Dindoff, you will be able to freely explore the expanses of the planet Pandora, from the dense jungle filled with incredible creatures to the magnificent peaks high in the sky, where no living soul has ever been before.
Alice Rendell, the lead narrative designer, says this will be realized largely through the creatures that inhabit these areas. «The different actions that non-player characters can perform and the different animations that they have can make the world come alive. With Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, we wanted to take it one step further and created a system where our NPCs react to events within the game, such as the weather, player progress, or time».
