Midjourney and its incredible creations

#EdPro

Artificial intelligence has long been used in various fields of science and art to optimize and speed up workflow. Now robotics is present in almost all spheres of human activity. It is quite convenient to use robots in large industries because they do not get tired and do not need to be paid a salary every month.

However, what about art, where the human factor is more important than anywhere else?

When studying certain works of art, we usually rely on the biography of the artist, the time of the creation of the work, the material that was used, and a large number of details that affect the pricing of the art market. But what happens when there are so many works that it is difficult to list them? That's right, they become much cheaper and their value significantly decreases.

The use of Midjourney artificial intelligence has forced thousands of artists from all over the world to rethink their approach to work because now to impress the viewer, you have to be not only creative and talented but really brilliant.

About Midjourney neural network

Midjourney is a neural network that creates images based on a text query. Simply put, you enter what you would like to see, and the neural network generates four variations of embodiments, after which you will have the opportunity to choose one of them and improve it.

At the same time, artificial intelligence will not generate the same images every time, even for similar requests. They will be similar, for example, the key object may remain, but other details will be constantly added or replaced.

Currently, anyone can try themselves as a creator using the beta version. In the beginning, Midjourney offers a limited freemium version that allows users to send 20-25 requests and create their own unique images. Then you will be offered several subscription options, currently creating 200 images will cost you $10 per month, and generating an unlimited number will be much more expensive from $30 - $60 per month. At the same time, the premium corporate subscription, which costs $60 per month, includes complete confidentiality of your requests.

To use the beta version, you need to go to the Midjourney website, which will redirect you to your Discord account, after which, once logged in, you will give text prompts to the bot, with which it will create unique images.

Creation of Midjourney

Back in 2011, David Holtz launched the first startup Leap Motion, which was based on artificial intelligence. It was an optical module that captured the movement of human hands using AI. Holz focused not so much on improving the machine itself as on expanding the range of human capabilities with the help of artificial intelligence.

In 2021, Holz founded the already well-known Midjourney, which functioned as a research laboratory. The service itself, which generates images from text, appeared in 2022.

Currently, the best analogs of Midjourney are free neural networks Craiyon and Open Source. Other similar applications are DALL-E 2, Dall-E, Stable Diffusion Online, and DALL-E FLOW

Can Midjourney replace designers?

According to David Holtz, Midjourney should expand our capabilities, but it is by no means able to replace humans.

It is instead a tool for developing out-of-the-box thinking and does not aim to compete with artists and designers.

"It is similar to the moment when people invented cars. Just because cars can go faster than people doesn't mean we cut off our legs. You will use cars to get somewhere faster. In essence, it increases our speed. Similarly, our product includes a beautiful exploratory process in which it becomes an extension of your imagination. And you can wander and explore and figure out what you want." - David Holtz
