The history of the most popular consoles began back in the late 1980s. Until then, all the laurels were given to the famous company Nintendo, which had no idea that a little later it would have to cede its place to another, very promising company.
We are talking about Sony, which, together with Philips, developed at the time a unique CD-ROM, which allowed to save information, but they did not stop there. Wishing to make a real breakthrough in the world of technology, the company went further, and over time, the world saw the CD-ROM ХA, which could be stored on computer audio, video, and programs in compressed format. The creation of their device similar to those that have been at Nintendo so far was not talked about.
A little later, the story began to gain momentum as, of course, Nintendo turned their attention to the invention of a unique storage format that could boost their sales several times over. So the most expedient solution was to sign a contract with Sony and start using CD-ROM ХA in the manufacture of their consoles. But it wasn't that easy either, the deal fell through at the last moment, all thanks to Hiroshi Yamauchi, the third president of Sony. Why thanks? Because at the last moment Yamauchi nevertheless decided to read the terms of the deal and realized that their company was in a much better position than Nintendo. A nice bonus was that Sony already had full control of the SNES-CD licensing, which effectively paved the way for the company to build their console and started the fight between the two giant companies. So after the termination of the deal with Nintendo, Sony began its path to create the console, which was later called the Playstation.
The first PS
The first attempts to enter the market by offering a product similar to the competitor's invention were unsuccessful, so Sony was forced to find possible improvements and develop a unique product. As we can understand, a breakthrough did occur and Sony wowed the world on December 3, 1994, with the release of the first Playstation. The first PS games available were these, well known to console fans: Battle Arena Toshinden, Doom, Wipeout, Ridge Racer.
The real breakthrough was the use of memory cards, with which you could start the game from the same place where you finished, rather than replaying it trying to remember your checkpoint. Not surprisingly, the console quickly gained popularity. The statistics speak for themselves - judging by the fact that the number of consoles sold in 11 years was
Around the mark of 100 thousand, for $ 299 - not hard to calculate the huge profits Sony during this period.
Playstation 2
Sony decided not to rest on its laurels and move forward. The result of productive work was the next model - PS 2. gaining fame and taking first place among the analogs, the company has almost no competitors, besides the characteristics and design of the new model was impressive, no wonder that the PS 2 became the best selling console of all time, of course, if in a parallel galaxy Nintendo did not sign a contract with Sony...
The PS 2 already supported CDs and DVDs, giving even more options in the gaming space. The console was released from 2000 until 2013, an unprecedented success.
Playstation 3 and the emergence of competitors
It wasn't without its competitors. Sure, the console was once unique, but the world doesn't stand still, it's constantly moving forward, so now the main competitors to the Playstation are the Xbox 360 and Wii. But the new console, which came out in 2005, was also even more impressive than previous models. It now had a music listening function, and it could also be used to watch movies or just surf the Internet. The Playstation Store was launched, where you could still buy everything for the consoles. As media, Blu-ray discs and built-in flash memory were already used. In addition, there were many accessories, one of which is Move.
Playstation 4
In 2013 the world saw this model of consoles from Sony, but here the company has again surprised us, as it took into account the complexity of game development for previous models, because of their specific design. So in PS 4 before us appeared already familiar computer elements. Now the PS was equipped with a 500 GB hard drive, 6-speed Blu-ray, 8-speed DVD drive, USB 3.0, Ethernet, HDMI, and optical ports, and it supported Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 connection.
Cardinal changes in the middle of the device led to the fact that it could no longer read games for past models, so it was decided to move them to the "cloud mode".
The new PS 5
From the first glance at it, you understand that this is a new step to the technology of the future. The futuristic design, which is reminiscent of the spaceship from the movie "Passengers", really gives the impression that the era of robots is already upon us.
Technical
The Blu-ray we know is also a component of this model, two USB connectors, one of which is designed for Tour C, we can notice that it is increasingly used in modern technology. All this is at the back of the console.
Behind, there are more ports - USB, RJ45, HDMI, and mains power. PS 5 is endowed with a powerful ventilator, due to which the productivity of the device does not fall, withstanding even heavy loads. And the AMD Zen texture processor with SMT support can support 16 computing threads simultaneously.
The built-in gamepad microphone which can be turned off by a special key can not leave you indifferent. The gadget itself is also equipped with a Ture C jack.
