Before us opens a terrible picture - a distant future where society is divided into classes, and people below for status must take part in the show to add a little color to the everyday life of those who are bored with the monotonous life of wealth.

While the rich are in comfort - mere mortals compete in games, the main prize is life. Each year, a selection lottery takes place to choose those "lucky ones" who will end up on the screens of thousands of viewers.

This year, one of the players is Katniss Everdeen and Pete Mellark, who reside in one of the districts. The plans of the determined and proud girl, who strives to win at all costs, change when she discovers that the guy who has lived by her side for so many years has been secretly in love with her all along. But, let's not forget that they're just one of 12 couples who want to try their luck and come out of the show in one piece.

The anniversary Hunger Games can by no means do without the heroes of the previous ones, hence Katniss and Pete will have to go through that hell again. This time, the best of the best will enter the arena - the winners of past tournaments, the shooting sparrows in the business. The rules are getting tougher and the competition is getting fiercer. So who comes out with a shield and who on the shield - only the level of training and dexterity of fighters will decide.

For Pete, the Capitol has a slightly different scenario. The guy is there, and every day he is on TV, calling for an end to the bloody struggle and submission to the existing authorities. Could Pete have changed so much, letting his people and Katniss down after trying so hard to ensure a happy free future for the next generations?

Katniss has not been crushed by her ordeal or the pain of losing loved ones - she no longer has a choice, she must go all the way and put an end to the dictatorial regime led by President Snow. 

The rebels have succeeded in capturing most of the territory of Panem. But she's not planning on stopping halfway to victory. Her main goal is to finish off the tyrant, even if the price of freedom may be too high. Now everything depends only on the final battle between the heroine and the main antagonist of this thrilling story of love, friendship, and courage.
