Hexagon, a digital agency from Kyiv, actively broadcasts its own position, always speaks out about the values of our people, and promotes Ukrainian culture in the media space.
'We believe that Ukrainian culture and values deserve to be represented in a digital lexicon', - the company says.
The new project was sent to the Unicode Emoji Subcommittee, which collects proposals for new templates and reviews them, then passes the recommendations to the Technical Committee of Unicode. He determines whether or not your devices will work with these or other demos.
Till now online expanded only versions of possible smileys, but nobody has not sent their own versions without direct involvement to the Unicode Emoji Subcommittee, which would be able to realize their implementation and expand, so Hexagon agency decided to take this issue into their own hands.
'New emojis are a reaction to socio-cultural changes. These small pictographs have become more inclusive and present images that are important for many people: we've seen the million flag, pregnant men, different colors of skin, religious symbols, etc. Role of the war, its influence and reactions to it, we can assume that there is a place for something Ukrainian, except the properly, in the next version of the emoji,' - commented the agency.
For its part, the Lviv creative agency And Action developed its own version of the emoji, adapted to the Ukrainian realities. In particular, the collection includes the exchange rate of the dollar, roads after winter, a Kyiv cake, and a Lviv brukivka from Market Square.
Whether Unicode will take Ukrainian symbols will be known in January 2022.
